About The Midnight
The Midnight is a Minecraft mod being developed by Cryptic Mushroom that adds a mysterious, new dimension to explore. It is a dimension of darkness; the only light comes from crystals and the various life of the dimension. Players can travel there willingly through Rifts, though they may find themselves being dragged there unwillingly instead.
Entering the Dimension
In order to get to the Midnight you will need to find a glowing, red rift in the overworld. These have changed in design over time so read for the appropriate version below:- Minecraft 1.19.4: You will need to find and defeat a mysterious new mob. This creature's demise will allow rifts to open randomly at night similarly to the earliest versions of the mod. In this version, however, they will only appear above ground level.
- Minecraft 1.15.2: You will need to find a red heap of mass. At night, the portal in its centre will open and allow you to enter the Midnight by stepping into it.
- Minecraft 1.14.4 and 1.12.2: Rifts will spawn randomly during the night, both above ground and in caves, and are often accompanied by unfriendly figures known as rifters.

Additions
- Corrupted pearls can now be used to locate rifts and are dropped by Nightshades
Balance Adjustments
- Corrupted mobs are now weak to gold and resistant to non-gold tools
- Corrupted mobs deal less damage to entities wearing gold armour
- Rifter attributes have been rebalanced alongside other smaller entity improvements
Improvements
- Improved rift spawning
- Terrain fixes
Bug Fixes
- Armor recipes no longer use the sword pattern
- The mod should no longer crash due to MixinExtras loading issues with Forge's Jar-in-Jar system
